Dermaplaning is an exfoliating treatment that uses a blade to gently skim dead skin cells and hair from the surface of the epidermis, which brightens and enhances your complexion, lightens acne scars, and smoothes out uneven skin and wrinkles.

What does Dermaplaning treat?

Prior to Treatment:

  • Avoid if you have:
  • Active/Open:
  • Acne
  • Skin infection
  • Lesions
  • Skin inflammation
  • Cold sores
  • Skin cancer
  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • Hirsutism
  • Used Accutane in the last 6 months
  • 7 days prior to treatment, stop/avoid (if possible):
  • Products that contain glycolic or salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or retinol
  • Chemical peels or other exfoliation treatments
  • Hair removing products/procedures
  • Direct sun exposure

Treatment:

  • Your skin will be cleansed.
  • A blunt exfoliating blade will be gently pressed against the skin.
  • Treatment can take up to 30 minutes.

After Treatment:

  • Patients are able to continue their regular routines within a day.
  • For effective results:
  • Use:
  • Sunscreen for several weeks
  • Abstain from:
  • Picking, scratching, or excessively rubbing the treated areas
  • Products that contain glycolic or salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or retinol for 3-4 days
  • Normal responses to treatment (lasts a few hours to a few days):
  • Minor redness
  • Tingling sensation
  • White heads
  • Blotchiness
  • Slight skin peeling

Dermaplaning results are:

  • Glowing and smoothened skin tone.
  • Decreased visibility of scarring and acne.
  • Boosted collagen production.
  • Improved appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

How many treatments do I need?

  • The amount of sessions are based on the individual’s needs and goals
  • To maintain results, it is best to have a regular scheduled treatment about once every month.
