Juvederm is a collection of dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid and is formulated to volumize, smoothen, or add plumpness to your face. This will rejuvenate your face, bringing back your natural and youthful complexion. Products labeled XC contain lidocaine to ease discomfort and swelling.

What does Juvederm treat?

  • Volumizes:
  • Cheek
  • Lips
  • Around nose
  • Softens
  • Moderate to severe parentheses lines
  • Vertical lip lines

Prior to Treatment:

  • Avoid use if you have:
  • Skin conditions:
  • Skin infection
  • Pimples
  • Rashes
  • Hives
  • Cysts
  • Cold sore
  • A medical history that includes:
  • Severe allergies including:
  • Allergies to hyaluronic acid, lidocaine, or bacterial proteins
  • 24 hours prior to treatment, avoid:
  • Smoking
  • Drinking alcohol
  • 2 weeks prior to treatment, stop taking or using (if possible):
  • Blood-thinning medications
  • Aspirin
  • Vitamin E
  • Fish oil
  • Ibuprofen
  • St. John’s wort

Treatment:

  • Your skin will be cleansed.
  • A topical anesthetic may be applied prior to your treatment
  • The area may be massaged to allow for equal distribution
  • Periodically apply ice pack to reduce swelling

Treatment Duration:

  • Takes up to an hour

After Treatment:

  • Patients are usually able to continue their regular routines within a day
  • For effective results, for the next 24 hours, abstain from:
  • Strenuous exercise
  • Exposure to sun or heat
  • Drinking alcohol
  • Wearing makeup
  • Touching face
  • Normal responses to treatment (lasts up to a week):
  • Redness
  • Pain/Tenderness
  • Firmness
  • Swelling
  • Lumps/Bumps
  • Bruising
  • Itching
  • Discoloration

When will I see results?

  • Results can be seen immediately or after swelling has gone down

How long do results last?

  • Treatment results have been shown to last for up to 6 months possibly to a year, depends on the specific Juvederm product used
