Merz Aesthetics

Radiesse and Radiesse (+)

RADIESSE® and RADIESSE® (+) are calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) injectable treatments. They are FDA-approved for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. RADIESSE® may also be used to restore volume on the backs of the hands; diluted RADIESSE® has an approved décolleté use, and RADIESSE® (+) has a jawline-contouring indication for appropriate adults.

Your injector will assess your goals, medical history, and treatment area to determine whether a Merz option is suitable. Results and treatment plans vary by person.

Radiesse is used for selected facial wrinkles and folds; specific FDA-approved uses also include backs of hands, décolleté (diluted product), and jawline contouring with RADIESSE® (+) for appropriate adults. Your clinician will explain which product and treatment areas are suitable for you.

RADIESSE® is FDA-approved to correct moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Other labeled uses include hand volume restoration, diluted RADIESSE® for décolleté wrinkles, and RADIESSE® (+) for jawline contour loss in appropriate adults. Your clinician will determine whether any of these options suit your needs.

Prior to Treatment:

Before your appointment, share your medical history, allergies, medications, and any previous filler treatments with your injector. They will assess the area, discuss benefits and risks, and decide whether RADIESSE® is appropriate for you.

Follow your injector’s aftercare instructions. Temporary swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness can occur after injections. Contact the practice if symptoms concern you or are not improving.

Treatment:

A trained clinician injects the selected product into the planned area. The product, technique, and amount are chosen for your anatomy, goals, and the product’s approved use.

Treatment Duration:

Appointment time varies by the treatment area and plan. Your injector can estimate the time needed during your consultation.

After Treatment:

After treatment, follow your injector’s instructions. Temporary swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness may occur. Contact the practice promptly for severe or worsening symptoms, unusual pain, skin color changes, or any vision changes.

Belotero Balance

BELOTERO BALANCE® (+) is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) filler. Its FDA-approved uses include correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, and adding volume to improve the infraorbital hollow in adults over 21. The product contains lidocaine to help reduce injection discomfort. Your provider will determine whether it is appropriate for you.

BELOTERO BALANCE® (+) may be used for selected facial wrinkles and folds and infraorbital hollow volume. Tell your provider about allergies, medical conditions, medications, and previous filler treatments. Your injector will assess the area and discuss expected results, risks, and aftercare before treatment.

What does Belotero treat?

BELOTERO BALANCE® is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) filler used to smooth moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, including nasolabial folds. BELOTERO BALANCE® (+) is also FDA-approved to improve infraorbital hollowing in adults over 21. Your clinician will confirm which formulation and use is appropriate for you.

Common treatment areas include smile lines (nasolabial folds). BELOTERO BALANCE® (+) may also be used to improve under-eye hollowing in adults over 21. The right product and area depend on your anatomy and goals; your injector will assess what is appropriate.

Which areas are best to treat with Belotero?

The appropriate treatment area and formulation depend on your anatomy, goals, and medical history. Your injector will assess suitability during a consultation.

Prior to Treatment:

Before treatment, share your medical history, allergies (especially to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins), medicines and supplements, skin conditions, and prior filler or facial procedures. Do not stop a prescribed medicine unless your clinician directs you. Tell the office if you have an active infection or irritation near the planned treatment area.

Treatment:

After consultation, your clinician cleans the skin and injects small amounts of the selected BELOTERO BALANCE® formulation into planned areas. The amount, injection technique, and use of anesthetic are individualized. A touch-up may be discussed at a follow-up visit around two weeks later.

Treatment Duration:

Appointment length depends on the areas treated and your personalized plan. Your provider can estimate the visit time during consultation; allow time for assessment and discussion before injections.

After Treatment:

Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, or small bumps can occur and usually improve over days to one or two weeks. Follow the personalized aftercare instructions from your injector. Contact the practice promptly for severe or worsening pain or swelling, skin whitening or unusual color change, or any vision changes; vision symptoms require immediate medical attention.

When will I see results?

Many people notice smoother-looking folds soon after treatment, although temporary swelling can affect the early appearance. Your clinician can assess the result once initial reactions settle and may discuss a touch-up at about two weeks.

How long do results last?

Results from classic BELOTERO BALANCE® for nasolabial folds last about six months on average and gradually fade. Duration varies by product, treated area, amount used, and individual factors. In a study, BELOTERO BALANCE® (+) results for under-eye hollowing lasted up to 48 weeks for some patients. Your injector can advise when to reassess or maintain results.

What is “Hyperdilute” Radiesse?

While it sounds complicated, hyperdiluted Radiesse is simply Radiesse that has been thinned out with a mixture of saline solution and Lidocaine into areas where the skin is showing sagging and looseness. The calcium hydroxyapatite molecules in Radiesse then stimulate the body to build new collagen as it acts as a collagen stimulating agent. This naturally firms and improves the area, adding volume to the sagging area and improving the skin texture. This treatment is a favorable alternative to surgical intervention such as facelift or neck and décolleté lift.
Calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) is a well-established collagen stimulator. In recent years, it has been increasingly used in hyperdiluted form as a biostimulatory agent rather than a volumizing filler to improve skin quality and firmness in both facial and corporal areas.

Hyperdillute Radiesse technique is a biostimulatory, and has collagen producing power to:

Hyperdiluted radiesse® is generally performed in areas where skin laxity is a concern such as:

When will I see results and how long will they last?

You may see an immediate result after treatment. The collagen stimulating effects of the treatment will take over at 3-4 weeks post treatment and will continue for up to 6 months. The gains you make with treatment will last, however, the aging process will continue- you will just age from a better place. For these reasons we recommend an effective at-home anti aging regimen and annual visits for maintenance treatment.

How many Hyperdilute Radiesse treatments will I need?

We recommend 2 – 3 treatments performed 1-2 month apart for optimal results. The number you will need will depend on your overall skin health, amount of skin laxity and volume loss. To maintain results we recommend a follow up treatment approximately once per year.

Is there downtime? What are the side effects?

Very mild bruising, swelling and discomfort after treatment may occur. These are temporary and will resolve within a few days.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate For Hyperdiluted Radiesse®?

Patients in good health should be able to receive hyperdiluted Radiesse® injections, particularly if they have concerns with skin texture, skin laxity, wrinkles, or cellulite.
Patients may not be a good candidate for the treatment if they:
While there is no age requirement for the treatment, the majority of those who request this cosmetic enhancement are typically 50 years of age or older. The regenerative effects of hyperdiluted Radiesse® treatment are best observed in those patients who have visible signs of aging.

How effective is Hyperdiluted Radiesse?

Hyperdiluted Radiesse® treatment sessions typically take 15 to 20 minutes each, after which there will be initial improvement in volume, and minimal downtime.

However, the collagen-stimulating effects of hyperdiluted Radiesse® will begin about a month after treatment, and will continue to improve for at least six months. Maintenance may be required in some areas to combat more advanced signs of aging skin.

Two to three treatment sessions spaced one to two months apart during the first year will likely be needed for optimal results. The number of treatments will ultimately depend on the overall volume loss and relative skin laxity of the patient.

As far as follow-up treatments are concerned, one session every 12 to 18 months is recommended to ensure that optimal skin firming effects are maintained.

What can Hyperdilute Radiesse help with?

All areas can be done, but some new interesting areas to consider are the decolletage (chest wall), necklines for thinning skin around the neck, cellulitic dimples of the thighs and buttocks, giving minor volume to the buttock for better shape, knee lines from lax skin with aging, stretch marks, and laxity around the arms.

What are the benefits of Hyperdilute Radiesse with the cannula method?

Cannulas are beneficial to apply fillers in general, but with hyperdilute Radiesse you can go safely, effectively, and automatically into thinner areas for volumizing.

How many treatments will I need?

Dr. Faremouth has found that from one to three initial treatment sessions are needed to achieve the aesthetic effects desired. These are spaced one month apart. From there, it’s only maintenance, with one hyperdilute Radiesse treatment every 12-18 months.
Any area that is sagging or is showing crepe-like skin can be changed with these treatments. You’ll see smoother, plump, firmer skin in all of the areas dr. Faremouth injects hyperdilute radiesse. From there, occasional maintenance every year or so maintains your plump, younger-looking skin.
